| 10:35 |
And James
and John, the sons of Zebedee, go to him ... |
| |
they
say to him ... Teacher! |
| |
We wish
that whatever we ask, you do for us. |
| 10:36 |
And he
said to them ... What you want of me, I will do for you. |
| 10:37 |
And
they said ... Grant us that, one out of your right and
one out left, we may sit in your glory. |
| 10:38 |
But Jesus
said to them ... You have not perceived what you ask. |
| |
Are you
able to drink the "cup" which I drink? |
| |
Or the
"immersion" which I am immersed? |
| 10:39 |
And they
said to him ... We can. |
| |
And the
Jesus said to them ... |
| |
The cup
which I drink ... you will drink ... |
| |
and the
"immersion" which I am immersed ... |
| |
you will
be immersed. |
| 10:40 |
But to
sit out right of me or out left is not mine to grant ... |
| |
but for
the ones it has been prepared. |
| 10:41 |
And having heard (of it) ... |
| |
the ten begin to be resentful about James and
John. |
| 10:42 |
And having called
them before him, Jesus says to them ... |
| |
You have perceived
that the ones seeming to rule the nations are down-lording
on them ... |
| |
and their
"great ones" put authority down on them. |
| 10:43 |
However
it is not so in you ... |
| |
But who
ever wishes to become "great" in you ... |
| |
He must
be your "slave." |
| 10:44 |
And who
ever in you wishes to be "first" ... |
| |
he must
be a "slave of all." |
| 10:45 |
For even
the "son of man" did not come to be served ... |
| |
but to
serve ... |
| |
And to
give his "soul" ... |
| |
As
a "ransom" on behalf of many. |
