6:14 And King Herod heard, because his "name" became apparent.
  and that John ...
  the one baptizing ...
has been raised out of the dead ones ...
and through this, "powers" are working in him.
6:15 Yet others were saying he is Elias.
yet others were saying a prophet, like one of the prophets!
6:16 And having heard, Herod was saying ... John, whom I beheaded, this one was raised.

Flashback: how John died

6:17 For Herod himself, having sent off (a bodyguard), arrested John ...
and he bound him in a "watch" ...
because of Herodias, the wife of Philip his brother ...
  because he married her.
6:18 For John said to Herod ... It is not permissible for you to have the wife of your brother.
6:19 And Herodias bore a grudge against him ...
and she desired to kill him ...
  and she could not.
6:20 For Herod feared John, perceiving him to be a just and holy man ...
  and he guarded him ...
  and hearing of him ...
he was much in doubt ...
and he gladly heard of him.
6:21 And when a good-timed day had come ...
when Herod made a dinner to his birthdays ...
to his great ones, and thousand leaders, and the foremost ones of Galilee ...
6:22 and when his daughter of Herodias came in ...
and danced, and pleased Herod and the ones lying back together ...
the king said to the maiden ... Request whatever you want of me and I will give it to you.
6:23 And he swore to her ... Whatever you ask me, I will give to you, up to "half my kingdom."
6:24 And having gone out, she said to her mother ... What should I ask for?
And she said ... The head of John the baptist.
6:25 And having immediately entered with haste before the king ...
she requested, saying ... I will forthwith you give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter.
6:26 And the king became enclosed in grief ...
because of the oaths, and the ones lying up, he could not refuse her.
6:27 And immediately the king sent away a bodyguard ...
commanded his head to be brought ...
and going away, beheaded him in the watch.
6:28 And he carried his head on a platter ...
and gave it to the maiden ...
and the maiden gave it to her mother.
6:29 And having heard, his disciples came ...
  and raised his corpse ...
and they placed it in a "memorial vault."
