After some flashback history about the demoniac and the tombs in verses 3 through 5 we come back to the scene in verse 2.

The distance between them closes.

Mk 5:6c ... and he "bowed before" him.

The Greek verb proskuneo, from pros (before, in front of) and kuon (dog, bow down, like a dog licking the feet of his master, worship). ... this results in a violent response.
